DAVID TIOMKIN
Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer
Prior to co-founding Catalur, Mr. Tiomkin was a Co-Portfolio Manager at Aurelius Capital Management, LP. Prior to that, he was an analyst in the Fixed Income division of Lehman Brothers where he focused on proprietary investments in distressed companies and special situations. Mr. Tiomkin started his career at Oliver Wyman, a management consulting firm. Mr. Tiomkin has MBA and MPA degrees from Harvard University and undergraduate degrees in economics and philosophy, magna cum laude, from Columbia University.
SERGEI FILIPOV
Co-Founder, Senior Partner
Prior to co-founding Catalur, Mr. Filipov was a Principal at MHR Fund Management LLC. From 2008 to 2013, Mr. Filipov was a senior analyst at Silver Point Capital, L.P., and before that he was a senior analyst in the Fixed Income division of Lehman Brothers. Mr. Filipov has an M.S. in international economics and law, with honors, from Johns Hopkins University and undergraduate degrees in economics and mathematics from Chernivtsi University, Ukraine.
JOHN VACCARO
Managing Director
Prior to joining Catalur, Mr. Vaccaro was a Partner at Farmstead Capital Management and before that an Analyst at Aurelius Capital Management, LP, where he worked with Mr. Tiomkin. He began his career at Moelis & Company in their Restructuring Group. Mr. Vaccaro has a JD from the Northwestern University School of Law where he was Associate Editor of the Northwestern Law Review and an undergraduate degree in government, cum laude, from Georgetown University.
LUIS LANDAS
Vice President
Prior to joining Catalur, Mr. Landas was a Research Associate on the investment team at Aurelius Capital Management, LP, where he worked with Mr. Tiomkin, first in New York and then in London. Mr. Landas holds a B.S. In Business and Political Economy, with a double major in Journalism, from the New York University, and has been a CFA Charterholder since 2018.
TOAN NGUYEN
Vice President
Prior to joining Catalur, Mr. Nguyen was a Senior Associate at Prospect Capital. Prior to that, he was an Associate in the Industrials Group at Jefferies, before which he was an Analyst and Associate at Cantor Fitzgerald. Mr. Nguyen has a BS in Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
ALEX KIM
Analyst
Prior to joining Catalur, Mr. Kim was a Distressed Credit Analyst at UBS Investment Bank. He has a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Vanderbilt University.
Non-Investment Team
MICHAEL SALATTO
COO, CFO and CCO
Prior to Catalur, Mr. Salatto served as Chief Financial Officer (2018- 2022) and Controller (2006-2018) at Aurelius Capital Management, LP where he worked with Mr. Tiomkin. Previously Mr. Salatto held senior roles at GAMCO Investors Inc, Skandia America Reinsurance Corporation, and the Domestic Brokerage Group of American International Group, Inc. He has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Scranton.
CHARLES SHORT
Partner, Business Development
Prior to joining Catalur, Mr. Short was Head of Capital Formation at AE Industrial Partners., and before that he was Managing Director, Business Development and IR at Marathon Asset Management. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles at Salomon, Lehman (where he worked with Mr. Tiomkin and Mr. Filipov), and Citibank. He holds a BA in Political Economy from the University of Washington and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
FEI YAN LIANG
Controller
Before joining Catalur, Ms. Liang was the Management Company Controller at Aurelius Capital Management, LP. Prior Aurelius, Ms. Liang spent 9 years at AG Asset Management, LLC, where she joined as senior accountant and was promoted to Controller, prior to which she was a Senior Accountant at the Dreyfus Corporation. Ms. Liang holds an MBA from Columbia University and a B.B.A in Finance from Baruch College, City University of New York.
TAMARA ROBERTSON
Director of Investor Relations
Prior to Catalur, Ms. Robertson was Director of Operations at Burford Capital, COO and CCO at Marketfield Asset Management, and Vice President in the Prime Finance division at Citigroup. She began her career at Lehman Brothers. Ms. Robertson has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Marketing from George Washington University.
